“A vigil was held in Brooklyn Sunday to remember the two fallen New York Police Department officer. Rafael Ramos had just turned 40 and Wenjian Liu was 32 when Ismaaiyl Brinsley allegedly shot them in the back of the head as they were eating lunch in a patrol car. Brinsley, 28, who had a series of arrests in three states, claimed the shootings were revenge for the deaths of Eric Garner and Michael Brown.
Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams asked protesters to stop rallying until the slain policemen were put to rest. “We want to send a very clear and loud message that what happened yesterday was a strike at public safety and that which we hold dear,” he said. “We are asking all New Yorkers to turn this page into purpose. … All lives matter.” – Internationl Business Times
